What is the CDBS

Child Dental Benefits Schedule is a dental benefits program for eligible children aged 2-17 years that provides up to $1,000 in benefits over 2 calendar years to the child for basic dental services.

Services that receive a benefit under the program include;

  • Examinations

  • X-rays

  • Cleaning and flouride treatment

  • Fissure sealing

  • Fillings

  • Root canal therapy

  • Extractions

These services are bulk billed presenting no out of pocket costs. Should the benefit cap be exceeded, you will be informed prior to treatment being carried out.

Which children are eligible?

The Department of Human Services assesses a child’s eligibility from the start of each calendar year. A child is eligible if they are eligible for Medicare, aged 2-17 years at any point in the calendar year and receive a relevant Australian government
payment, such as Family Tax Benefit Part A at any point in the calendar year.

Bulk Billing Consent form

The Department of Human Services requires all bulk billing patients to provide consent prior to treatment.

You can download the consent form below and bring it to your child’s initial consultation appointment. Each child requires an individual consent form.
